You shut down your email server to protect it from Y2K viruses? Big deal. I'll bet employees circumvented your protection by using HotMail instead.
So! You shut down your firm's email server to protect it from a bogeyman. You saved the company from death-wielding Y2K viruses. Those 200,000 viruses didn't appear as you predicted, but employees and upper management finally heeded your security advice. Besides, it really didn't cost your firm anything to shut down over the new year, did it? Yeah yeah, big deal. I'll bet some employees circumvented your protection by using HotMail instead. And I'll bet they read this long before you did...
