![]() Truth About Computer Security Hysteria
The return of the MCAF stock symbolRob Rosenberger, Vmyths co-founderTuesday, 30 November 1999 NO DOUBT ABOUT it — I should put more of my predictions on the web for all to see. They began as McAfee. They absorbed a bunch of companies before "merging" with Network General to form Network Associates. I knew McAfee would retain their identity & independence. Now we see the imminent return of the MCAF stock symbol. They added ".com" to their name but, hey, it's still McAfee. I'll treat them as a distinct firm from this point forward. I didn't hit a home run, though. I figured Network Associates would just change back to McAfee for name recognition. Hmmm... Let's call my prediction a "ground rule double." This spin-off idea looks great at first glance. I think it'll give McAfee more opportunity to focus on their flagship product line. It should also give Network Associates another chance to meld the corporate structures it absorbed during CEO Bill Larson's buying spree. |
